Job Description Summary: The FP&A Analyst, Finance & Analytics will be a key member of the Australian Financial Planning & Analytics team based in Sydney and will report into the Finance Director. This role will be a hybrid between the Finance and Analytics parts of FP&A.

The FP&A Analyst, Finance & Analytics will be a key member of the Australian Financial Planning & Analytics team based in Sydney and will report into the Finance Director. This role will be a hybrid between the Finance and Analytics parts of FP&A.

The FP&A Analyst will work closely with the FP&A team to drive key weekly and monthly FP&A cadences focused on performance review, variance analysis and forecasting, while aiming to do so in a scalable and efficient way. Further, the role is also expected to drive actionable insights and optimal decision making primarily aimed at positively impacting revenue. For this, the candidate will be able to spend a share of time on deep dive analysis outside of the recurring FP&A cadences for both Australia and other Core Markets regions (North America, UK, DEATCH, Western Europe and Southern Europe).

A successful candidate will be highly analytical, have an enquiring mind, a proactive/self-starter nature, commercial acumen, and a desire for discovering insights from consumer and merchant activity. This role requires quantitative analysis of large data sets, financial modelling, collaboration with a wide array of stakeholders and creation of executive level presentations.

Your core responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of PayPal’s business across different segments, verticals and regions.
  • Support weekly and monthly AU FP&A cadences with performance reviews, variance analysis and deep dives.
  • Review and communicate performance against defined targets. Regularly perform variance and sensitivity analyses on (daily/weekly/monthly) revenue performance.
  • Partner closely with Senior Management across Finance and Business Units to discover commercial opportunities. Influence decision makers with executive level presentations.
  • Perform deep dives and leverage financial analytics analysis on very large quantities of data to deliver insights on business performance & revenue drivers for AU.
  • Support ad-hoc analyses & projects at AU and Core Markets level.
  • Optimize and automate recurring processes towards efficient and scalable solutions.
  • Build new and develop existing frameworks (models and reports) to analyze and keep track of AU business performance.
  • Support Finance process and system improvements, partnering with global FP&A/Analytics and technology teams, to streamline efficiency.

Education required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Finance, Economics or related quantitative discipline.

Experience required:

  • Experience gained e.g., as a Business Analyst, Insights & Analytics Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, Financial Analyst, FP&A Analyst, ideally in a fast growing, medium/large company environment within the eCommerce or financial services sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and challenging financial models, guiding business decisions.

Skills & Abilities required:

  • Ability to work across functions, organization & geographies and influence peers and more senior colleagues.
  • Strong communication skills and experience distilling and presenting complex financial analyses into action-oriented recommendations.
  • Thorough understanding and experience of working with large customer and transactional datasets and true desire to understand the drivers of the business.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects/ results oriented.
  • Excellent SQL, Excel (including pivot tables, functions, macros, charts) and PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience with database products (i.e. Essbase, Python) would be an advantage.
  • Experience with CRM tools (i.e. Salesforce.com) would be an advantage.
  • Fluency in English. Any other language of the region is more than welcome.
